Travis Kelce is not planning to quit the NFL anytime soon, even as he becomes more famous off the field.

“I have no reason to stop playing football,” Kelce, 34, said to reporters at a press conference Thursday before the NFL Playoffs, when they asked him if he wanted to retire.

Kelce has been the buzz of the NFL all year, and not only for his performance on the field. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s romance with Taylor Swift has been in the news almost every day since they started dating last summer.

Kelce’s star power has also soared on its own. The NFL star hosted Saturday Night Live last March, was on the cover of the Wall Street Journal magazine in November and is seen on TV ads all year round.

“I’ve been fortunate to do a few things outside of the sports world that I’ve been enjoying doing, like getting on camera,” TK said Thursday, . “The SNL stuff kind of opened up a new happiness and a new career path for me, but it’s funny for me to even say that at this point in my career because I think it’s so much further down the road than it is right now.”

Kelce thinks he still has a lot of potential and passion for his pro football career and how much fun he has playing the game.

“I love it,” Kelce said Thursday. “We still have success.”

Kelce is still one of the best players in the league. He has 984 receiving yards, the most on the Chiefs offense, and scored five touchdowns for the team in 15 games.

Kelce also helped the Chiefs win their eighth AFC West Championship in a row and make the playoffs for the ninth time with an 11-6 record.

Kelce’s mother, who was on PEOPLE’s 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year list, said to the WSJ magazine in its cover story about her son that he’s “happier than I’ve seen him in a long time” this season — in large part due to his relationship with Swift, 34.

“It feels like I was on top of the world after the Super Bowl and right now I’m even more on top of the world,” Kelce said to reporters in October, soon after the “Love Story” singer started coming to his games and sitting with his mother Donna.

Kelce and the Chiefs will play against the Miami Dolphins at home this Saturday night in the first round of the playoffs. Swift may be there to watch them.

The Chiefs are aiming to win the Super Bowl again this year, after they did it in 2023. They want to reach the final game for the fourth time in five years.

The Chiefs have a hard journey to the Super Bowl, as they start the playoffs with the Dolphins, who have a strong offense, and then may face the Bills and the Ravens, who were both expected to be Super Bowl contenders before the season.

Even though the path is not easy, The Kansas City Star thinks the Chiefs have a 70 percent probability of making it to the Super Bowl.
