Police in New York City say that Michael Stuhlbarg, star of Boardwalk Empire, was attacked by a homeless man wielding a rock close to Central Park.

A homeless man in the Upper East Side approached Stuhlbarg, 55, on Sunday night, apparently at random, NYPD told DailyMail.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., the actor was strolling at East 90th and East Drive when Xavier Israel, 27, struck him in the back of the neck with a rock.

Police verified that Israel is homeless and that she was previously detained in January 2022 for two assaults and a robbery.

The NYPD said Stuhlbarg ‘received medical attention at the scene’ for ‘minor injuries’.

Following the attack, Stuhlbarg chased after Israel, who was quickly apprehended by police stationed outside the Russian consulate at 9 E. 91 Street. Police stated that Israel was charged in the assault and taken into custody without any incidents.
