Shohei Ohtani was unaware that his interpreter was wagering millions of dollars, and the federal authorities have determined that the Dodger star was not only not a part of the scam but also a victim of it, law enforcement sources with firsthand knowledge told TMZ Sports.

Ippei Mizuhara, who has been Ohtani’s longstanding translator, personal friend, and manager in theory, has been the subject of federal investigations. Mizuhara lost millions of dollars gambling, allegedly at least $4.5 million, and claimed Ohtani had paid off the loan once the news surfaced.

According to the outlet sources, the federal authorities, who opened an inquiry last month, have determined that Mizuhara was telling lies, claiming Ohtani was unaware of the gambling debt and that Mizuhara had embezzled money from one of Ohtani’s accounts.

At a press conference held last month, the Dodgers superstar explicitly stated that he was not placing wagers.

According to outlets, the federal government has determined that Ohtani did not commit any crimes and has no history of involvement with bookmaking or gambling.

As you are aware, Ohtani inked a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers, the largest deal in baseball—or, really, in any sport in North America.

According to law enforcement sources, Mizuhara is about to face charges, whereas Ohtani has been found not guilty of any wrongdoing.
