During a March SXSW panel titled “Mindfulness Over Perfection: Getting Real On Mental Health,” Selena Gomez revealed how she realized she needed to be kinder to herself after viewing her mental health-focused 2022 Apple TV+ documentary My Mind & Me.

“It makes me sick to hear the things that I was saying about myself in the beginning. It bums me out,”the Only Murders in the Building actress expressed her disappointment during the gathering, which was also witnessed by her mother and Wondermind co-founder Mandy Teefey.

“It’s important to speak to yourself with kindness, but I don’t think I really understood that [at the start of the film],” she added.

Early in the star’s career, Gomez and 47-year-old Teefy came up with the concept to launch Wondermind, an online community centered on mental health.
