Killer Mike, the celebrated rapper, recently achieved a career high by winning three Grammy Awards. However, his elation was short-lived. Shortly after accepting the prestigious prizes, he found himself in a distressing situation. Reports emerged that he was apprehended by police officers and led away in handcuffs from the ceremony.
The news of Mike’s arrest was initially disclosed by Chris Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter. Videos circulating on social media captured the rapper’s unexpected encounter with law enforcement. Despite his Grammy victories, this turn of events cast a shadow over what should have been a triumphant night for Killer Mike.
Although Gardner noted that an official had stated that Mike was charged with “a misdemeanor,” he was unable to find out the specific offense at the time. The arrest has “nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena,” according to the same unidentified official.
Despite this setback, Killer Mike’s Grammy victories were significant. He secured the Best Rap Album award for his semi-self-titled album “Mike.” Additionally, he claimed both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his track “Scientists & Engineers,” featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane—all of whom also received accolades for their collaboration with Mike.
His first Grammy came back in 2003 when he was featured on OutKast’s hit “The Whole World.” Since then, he’s been nominated again in 2018 as part of the group Run the Jewels, alongside OutKast member Big Boi and Danger Mouse, but they narrowly missed taking home the trophy that year.
As the 2024 Grammy Awards unfold, the excitement continues. Numerous trophies have already been awarded during the Premiere Ceremony, which precedes the televised show. The second part of the Grammys is set to begin at 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST.
