Olivia Munn is opening up about her health issues, including that she’s had a double mastectomy and has been battling breast cancer for nearly a year.

The actress posted several photos on Instagram on Wednesday, one of which shows her undergoing a battery of tests while wearing a medical gown. She also shared a video of herself crying and lying in a hospital bed, with a medical specialist comforting her.

Munn also shared text posts explaining her cancer journey thus far and for the first time ever, admitting that she had been keeping it a secret for a while.

Munn claims that after having a mammogram last year, she received a breast cancer diagnosis in April. She claimed that since receiving the diagnosis, she has undergone four surgeries and has spent several days resting in a hospital bed.

Munn says that she and her sister underwent a genetic test in February 2023 to screen for cancer genes, including BRCA, for which she says to have tested negative. But according to OM, her OGBYN recommended additional testing because of her family history during a regular mammogram, and that’s how the cancer in both of her breasts was discovered. Olivia believes that her life was saved by her doctor.

Munn adds that even though she felt well, she had a double mastectomy shortly after, and she advises other women to visit their OBGYN to have their personal cancer risk evaluated frequently and early.

In the statement, OM expressed her gratitude to her friends and family, praising her partner, comedian John Mulaney, in particular for his unwavering support throughout this difficult time. By the way, OM and John attended the Oscars on Sunday, and no one had any suspicions whatsoever.

She continues by stating that she made sure the first thing she saw when she woke up was the framed picture of John and their baby Malcolm, which she kept at her bedside during every medical procedure.

It’s unclear whether Munn is cancer-free or in remission based on the fact that she made no mention of it in her post.

Regardless, it was courageous of her to speak up and disclose this. She’s also receiving a lot of praise.
