Morgan Wallen‘s joke about Taylor Swift during his Indiana show backfired on Friday night.

The 30-year-old singer, who re-recorded some of his earlier songs after being inspired by the hitmaker, began his One Night At A Time tour on Thursday at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.

The country crooner bragmed a bit while he took a break on night two to express his gratitude to the audience for coming out to support him.

“This is single most attended concert in the history of this building, and we’re the first to do it for two nights in a row” the Last Night singer told the crowd, who responded with loud whoops and applause.

“I’m going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town,” he added in a humorous manner. However, the crowd was not amused, as they booed at the mention of Swift.

While some audience members applauded, the majority started to noisily condemn the sentiment and silence any opposing views.

Morgan made an effort to placate the throng and demonstrate that he had no animosity towards Swift.

“We aint got to boo, we aint got to boo,” morgan told the crowd who continued expressing their displeasure.

Confused of what to say next, he thanked his supporters for supporting him.

“Yall are too much. I’m a Morgan Wallen fan & a Swiftie,” One person commented.

Another person pointed out, “I’m a fan of both and will not compare their success because they’re both very successful singers,”

“Love Morgan! He will always have a fan in me, but a lot of his fans are questionable,” wrote one fan.

“lol I’m also a Swiftie!! Love to see my fave artists thriving and not downing each other!”

It seems that Morgan himself is a fan of the superstar. A video from one of her concerts in 2022 shows the singer and the crowd faithfully, if not in tune, singing Swift’s hit All to Well.

According to her website, Swift, who is on hiatus from her Eras tour, will head to Europe in May.

It was her recent addition of three consecutive nights of performances at the Lucas Oil Center on November 1, 2, and 3 that initially sparked Wallen’s remarks.

The three shows sold out in a flash.

The budding billionaire was set to release his 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19.

The new collection of songs is available for pre-order in various incarnations on his website and other music outlets.
