Move over, Spider-Man, there are some new web-slingers in town.
Sony has released the first trailer for “Madame Web,” the next chapter in the live-action Spider-Man universe, starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney.
Johnson takes on the role of Cassandra Webb, the main character in this iteration, known by the name Madame Web. In Marvel Comics, she possesses psychic abilities that allow her to see into the interconnected world of the spider-verse.
Sweeney portrays Julia Carpenter, who takes on the role of Spider-Woman in the comics. The cast also includes Isabella Merced, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.
After the success of Sony Pictures Animation’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” it’s clear that there’s a hunger for all things wall-crawling and web-swinging. After the releases of Tom Hardy’s “Venom” (2018), “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), and Jared Leto’s “Morbius” (2022), “Madame Web” is the latest chapter in the live-action Spider-Man universe.
