Kanye West demands that famous people in music industry honor his choice to use his legally changed name, “Ye”.

Kanye’s head of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, demands in a letter obtained by TMZ that the rapper be referred to going forward as “Ye”. The letter is sent to major stakeholders in the music industry, including as publishers, streamers, lyric websites, and more.

According to Milo, Kanye knew he would be losing the brand value that comes with being called “Kanye West,” consequently he didn’t make the choice to alter his name lightly. Still … the Grammy winner considers it a “slave name” and wants to ditch the moniker across all platforms.

He said, “Ye is a Black man in America who wants the right to full self-determination just like everyone else.”

Remember that in October 2021, Kanye formally changed his name to Ye. Years after praising the name’s biblical connections, the musician got permission from a judge to use his old nickname as his legal name.

In 2018, Kanye said to radio the speaker Big Boy that he liked the word Ye since it was the most often used word in the Bible. This was untrue, by the way.

Ye is not, however, the first musician to do so; Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Prince, Bow Wow, and Ke$ha have all changed their public names in the past.

Will the music industry do as Ye says? To Ye, or not to Ye, that is the question?
