Bieber’s recent appearance coincided with TMZ’s report that Usher, the halftime performer for Super Bowl LVIII, had been in direct contact with him regarding a potential guest appearance during the show.
As many fans may remember, Usher played a pivotal role in mentoring a young Bieber when the latter was first discovered by Scooter Braun back in 2008. Their collaboration on Bieber’s 2010 hit, “Somebody to Love,” remains memorable.
Although the “Sorry” hitmaker has taken a hiatus from the stage in recent years, he surprised fans on February 1st by performing a selection of his chart-topping hits at Drake’s Toronto club, aptly named History. His return to the spotlight was met with excitement and nostalgia.
Earlier this week, Usher, 45, playfully hinted that he might bring a familiar face onto the halftime show stage.
During a press conference hosted by Apple Music on Thursday morning, Usher shared “I think I made it easy for myself when I decided to have features on songs that became hit records, so that gave me the greatest point of reference.”
“I have definitely gone through a lot of ideas of who I would have shared this moment with me and I do feel like the people who are gonna share it deserve just as much recognition for what they do in their careers – whether we have collaborated together. or rather they’ve had moments of their own,” he added, hinting that there may be more than one surprise guest.
According to Page Six, the eight-time Grammy winner, Usher, plans to incorporate pole dancers and “dancers on roller skates” into his show.
In September 2023, it was officially revealed that Usher would take the stage as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LVIII. This exciting opportunity marks a significant milestone in his career, and he expressed his honor and anticipation for the performance. Fans can expect a show like no other from the talented artist!
He said in a statement at the time, “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list, I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before.”
