Jeremy Allen White is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in a planned story film about the development of his 1982 record “Nebraska.” The actor is hoping to go from “The Bear” to the Boss, as Variety reported.

Although agreements have not yet been signed, Scott Cooper is being considered to write and direct the film “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” which is based on the ideas of Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of the Gotham Group. A24 is negotiating to join the project as well. In his first significant motion picture endeavor since resigning from his position as Netflix’s president of film, producer Scott Stuber has joined.

The movie is based on the 2023 book “Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska” by Warren Zanes. It will chronicle Springsteen’s path towards creating his sixth studio album, a somber, pared-down selection of tunes that signaled the rock star “Born to Run” taking a new creative turn. A few years before he and the E Street Band would release “Born in the U.S.A.,” Springsteen recorded “Nebraska” on a four-track cassette in his bedroom in New Jersey.

Fresh from winning a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and a SAG Award for his role as Carmy Berzatto in FX’s kitchen dramedy “The Bear,” White is in the midst of an awards run. He’s now in Chicago filming the third and fourth seasons of the show. The actor was also well-received for his performance as wrestling champion Kerry Von Erich in A24’s sports drama “The Iron Claw.”

Deadline was first to report the news.
