Liron Petrushka and Naomi Petrushka, an Israeli couple who had made a name for themselves in the tech industry, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash near the Nevada border in California.

At 6:38 p.m., Liron and Naomi’s jet crashed while they were attempting to land at Truckee Tahoe airport. Tragically, the married couple died in the crash.

The aircraft took off westward from Denver, Colorado’s Centennial Airport on Saturday at around 4:20 p.m. The accident’s cause is still unknown.

Officials from the Truckee Tahoe airport identified the aircraft as a “single engine TBM aircraft N960LP” in a Facebook post.

Prior to entering the tech industry, Liron played soccer in Israel.

They stated that it was unclear “how many people were onboard,” despite the fact that there were two confirmed fatalities.

At the time of the collision, KCRA-TV reported that the weather was moderately snowy with a half-mile visibility.

For the past few years, the Petrushkas—who leave behind four children—had lived in California. They had a track record of accomplishments and had made a name for themselves as shrewd tech investors.

The pair received almost $200 million in 1999 when they sold the business they had built, CommerceBid. Following the acquisition, Petrushka stayed on board and provided support to the business that purchased CommerceBid.

Following CommerceBid, they made an investment in Check, which was later sold for about $360 million in 2014 to the powerful American financial business Intuit.

The Petrushkas also made an investment in UpWest, a venture capital firm that backs Israeli-led businesses with locations in both Israel and the US, according to Ctech.

In Truckee, close to the Nevada state line, the plane carrying the Petrushkas crashed.

Following the crash, the Truckee Police Department posted on its Facebook page.

They said,’Truckee Police and fire personnel are currently on scene of a plane crash near the area of Glenshire Drive and Olympic Blvd. At this time there is no threat to any structures and no road closures.

They alerted the locals, ‘there will be a heavy presence of emergency responders in the area for an extended period of time.’

Following the plane crash, “Truckee Police, Truckee Fire, Nevada County Sheriff, Nevada County Coroner, and Truckee Tahoe Airport staff were on scene,” according to a statement from the Truckee Tahoe Airport.

Additionally, they stated that the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board would be looking into the matter.

Before embarking on his impressive career as a tech investor, Liron Petrushka began playing soccer for Israeli team Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim.

In a statement to The Times of Israel, the football club’s chairperson said, ‘The club bows its head for the death of Liron Petrushka and his wife.’

The tragic loss of Liron and Naomi Petrushka has deeply affected their community, both in Israel and California. Their contributions to the tech world and their philanthropic endeavors will be remembered by many. May their souls rest in peace.
