Inside Out 2

It seems that Pixar fans are in for a challenge as “Inside Out 2” has recently released its first trailer.

“Inside Out 2” is the sequel to the 2015 animated film “Inside Out.” The first film centered around an 11-year-old girl named Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and her five emotions in her mind: Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader), and Anger (Lewis Black). In the sequel trailer, a new emotion is introduced: the swinging, orange Anxiety.

Following alleged salary disputes, Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling are not returning in the next installment, and their roles are taken over by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira, respectively.

In “Inside Out,” after relocating from Minnesota to San Francisco, Riley struggles to adjust to her new surroundings. With the unsettling experiences of growing up, she finds herself in a serious emotional turmoil, risking not only her friendships but also her family.

“Inside Out” takes Riley on a courageous journey through joy and sadness, unraveling her emotional world. She must discover how to settle into her new home and navigate the various emotions she is feeling.

Upon its initial release, “Inside Out” received stellar reviews from both critics and audiences alike, earning it the 2016 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Film critic Peter Debruge wrote for Variety, “‘Inside Out’ blew [other Pixar films] away, becoming something that audiences would carry with them for the rest of their days, transcending the screen.” He described the film as a “beautiful and poignant metaphor for understanding one’s emotions and fostering empathy with others.”

The sequel was announced for the first time in 2022 at Disney’s D23 Expo. Kelsey Mann directs, while Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the first film, also works as a writer for the second film.

“Inside Out 2” is set to be released in theaters on June 14, 2024, nearly nine years after the first film.
