During a discussion about her latest Netflix series, Griselda, Sofia Vergara explains why her acting jobs are “limited.”

The 51-year-old actress, who portrayed the formidable Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, expressed to the Los Angeles Times: “I’m constantly on the lookout for roles, but my options are somewhat limited due to my accent.”

She humorously remarked about her accent, “I can’t play a scientist or be in ‘Schindler’s List.’ My acting jobs are kind of limited.”

Sofia admitted that embodying the infamous drug lord was a tough task, which led her to engage the services of acting coach Nancy Banks. Banks has a track record of working with esteemed actors like Margot Robbie and Jennifer Aniston.

Reflecting on her ex-husband’s acting prowess, Sofia said: “I had no clue what it meant to have a process. I was married to Joe Manganiello, who is a classically trained actor. I would see how he would prepare. I was kind of always like, ‘What do real actors do? Can I do this?’”

In a past interview with PEOPLE, the Modern Family star also delved into the emotional journey she undertook to portray Griselda.

“I had to really investigate what it meant to be a woman in that era. A mother, a Colombian woman… that turned into this monster. So, it was a really difficult task for me to understand,” she confessed.
