According to team owner Jim Irsay, Super Bowl champion and retired Indianapolis Colts aggressive guard Matt Ulrich has passed away. Ulrich is Dead at 41 years old.
In 2007, along with an image of Ulrich holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy, Irsay wrote on X “Saddened to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich.” “Matt was with us for only two seasons, but he left his mark on many. A great man, I’ve heard he was a great father – and he was a Super Bowl champion. My prayers go out to his family.”
The former Northwestern University captain played for the Colts for two seasons during his entire NFL career, but Ulrich won a title when the Colts led by Peyton Manning defeated the Chicago Bears 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI.
In 2016, upon his retirement, Manning remembered that moment and credited it to Ulrich and his teammates.
