Ben Affleck’s stellar performance in the 2016 film “The Accountant” was not only marked by his sharp mathematical skills but also his smooth action sequences. It’s been reported that the sequel to this film is slated to begin production this year.

The first film was directed by Gavin O’Connor, known for “Warrior”, and plans for a second installment have been in the works for some time.

However, due to Affleck’s busy schedule, which includes roles in DC films and his own directorial projects, the sequel had been postponed.

Now, it’s confirmed that the project is back on track and set to commence this year, with an anticipated release in 2025, as reported by Deadline.

Earlier, Ben had shared updates about the status of “The Accountant 2” with Collider.

“We’ve talked about it. There seems to be a debate whether or not to do a TV series version of it. The scriptwriter [Bill Dubuque] has become quite successful and busy, so he’s off doing his thing,” he added.

He mentioned, “And somebody said to me, ‘Well if we could find a script that we could retrofit and make into a sequel.”

He further explained, “But that’s sort of tricky because the personality of the character is so specific, that doesn’t really work to just say, ‘Well, we used call this script Action Movie Shootout, and now we’re going to call it The Accountant 2.'”
