Billie Eilish is criticizing artists that re-release their songs in different hard copy formats. Although she doesn’t name names, Many see this as a move to attack Taylor Swift.

In an interview with Billboard, the singer discussed this topic candidly, stating that many “big artists” repeatedly release all of their songs, even on vinyl, and that Billie believes this is a blatant attempt to profit from the practice, in addition to being harmful to the environment.

The Ocean Eyes singer says, “We live in this day and age where, for some reason, it’s very important to some artists to make all sorts of different vinyl and packaging … which ups the sales and ups the numbers and gets them more money and gets them more.“

Billie adds, “I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is. It is right in front of our faces and people are just getting away with it left and right, and I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable.“

She continues,“[A]nd then it’s some of the biggest artists in the world making f***ing 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more.“

Billie concludes by expressing her annoyance about certain artists who consistently engage in this behavior, seemingly more concerned with their numbers and bottom lines.

If you don’t know… Taylor’s fan base devours every chance she gets to release new versions of her albums, a practice that has made her legendary. Of course, other musicians also do this, but it appears like Billie is targeting T-Swift in this instance.

By the way, Swift is already planning to repeat this, releasing four different versions of her upcoming album soon.

In addition, Billie has published a number of hard copy editions of her work; however, she has taken care to ensure that the vinyl records are manufactured using recyclable materials and that the packaging she employs is environmentally friendly.

It sounds like Billie has a grudge, and a lot of people see this bashing of Taylor’s business model. It begs the question, “new beef alert?“
